Question of the Month

Q. When can my student begin registering for Fall classes and who should he/she work with for help?

A.

Registration for Summer and Fall 2011 for current students is happening now and students can add classes online until September 2nd. Advisors are available for every student so encourage your son or daughter to touch bases with an “expert” to help make sure they stay on track to meet their goals.

If your student indicates they don’t know who their advisor is, have him/her check this list: 2011-2012 First Year Advisors By Major.

Is your son or daughter undeclared? Or has he or she mentioned he/she might not be in the right major? Or have you noticed he or she questioning what he/she wants to do? Encourage him/her to visit with our Students-in-Transition advisor or other wonderful advisors in our Academic Advising Center. Their office is located in Gaines 130 and your student may schedule an appointment by calling (406) 994-3532. These advisors will work with your student to consider his/her interests, strengths, and weaknesses and, if necessary, to navigate the change of major process.

To learn all the dates and guidelines for registration, check out the Registration Handbook.

If your student will be new to MSU in Fall 2012, registration will take place during orientation.
